Fri Jul 04 00:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Blue Jays Steal Thrilling Victory, Tie Yankees for AL East Lead

**TORONTO –** In a rollercoaster of a game, the Toronto Blue Jays edged out the New York Yankees 11-9 on Wednesday night, leveling the AL East standings. Toronto squandered an early eight-run lead but rallied in the eighth inning to secure the win.

The Blue Jays exploded in the first inning, scoring seven runs off Yankees starter Will Warren. Addison Barger highlighted the inning with a three-run home run, and Davis Schneider added two solo shots later in the game. Toronto led 8-0 by the third, but the Yankees fought back, chipping away at the deficit.

Giancarlo Stanton blasted his first home run of the season, a three-run shot, as part of a six-run sixth inning for New York. The Yankees completed the comeback in the eighth when Aaron Judge launched a two-run homer off Yimi García, tying the game 9-9.

However, Toronto responded in the bottom of the eighth. George Springer walked, stole second, and ultimately scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch from Yankees reliever Devin Williams. Addison Barger then drove in an insurance run with an RBI single.

Jeff Hoffman closed out the game in the ninth, securing his 20th save of the season.

The win marks Toronto’s third straight in the series and ties them with the Yankees atop the AL East at 48-38. New York, who had held sole possession of the division lead since April 14, has struggled recently, going 13-18 since May 28. Toronto, meanwhile, has been surging, going 21-10 in the same period.

Despite the loss, Aaron Judge had a strong performance for the Yankees, going 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs. Judge’s single in the third inning was clocked at 118.1 mph, his hardest-hit ball in two years.

The series concludes Thursday with Clarke Schmidt scheduled to pitch for the Yankees against Chris Bassitt for the Blue Jays.
