**Chennai, India – July 3, 2025** – Tragedy struck a family in Puzhal, Chennai, on Tuesday night as a man and his two sons died from carbon monoxide poisoning caused by a mini-generator. Selvaraj, along with his sons Suman Raj and Gokul Raj, were found dead in their home on the 10th street of Britannia Nagar Wednesday morning.

According to Puzhal police, who responded to the scene, a power outage prompted Selvaraj to switch on a generator before going to sleep in a poorly ventilated room. Noxious fumes from the generator filled the room overnight, leading to the suffocation and deaths of all three.

Selvaraj’s wife, Mala, discovered the bodies Wednesday morning after receiving no response when she knocked on the bedroom door. Ithaya, the family’s daughter, was also present in the house.

The bodies have been sent to Stanley Hospital for post-mortem. Authorities are urging residents to ensure adequate ventilation when using generators, especially indoors, to prevent similar tragedies. This incident highlights the dangers of carbon monoxide poisoning, which can be fatal without proper precautions.
