Thu Jul 03 10:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Astros Extend Series Win Streak to 12 as Altuve Climbs Ranks
**DENVER** – Jose Altuve delivered a clutch two-run single in the sixth inning, propelling the Houston Astros to a 5-3 victory over the Colorado Rockies Wednesday night and extending their series win streak to an impressive 12. The win also saw Altuve surpass Jeff Bagwell for second place on the Astros’ all-time hits list.
Altuve finished the night 2-for-5, his pivotal hit bringing his career total to 2,315 and securing a 4-2 lead for Houston. Only Craig Biggio, with 3,060 hits, stands ahead of him in franchise history.
Starting pitcher Hunter Brown (9-3) earned the win, pitching six solid innings and allowing just two runs on six hits while striking out eight. Brown’s performance also etched his name in Astros history, reaching 500 strikeouts in just his first 86 appearances, joining Lance McCullers Jr. as the only other Astros pitcher to achieve that milestone.
The Astros offense got off to a quick start, with Altuve and Cam Smith delivering back-to-back singles in the first inning to give Houston an early 1-0 lead. Rookie Shay Whitcomb added to the advantage with a towering 451-foot home run to left-center field in the second. Smith capped off the Astros’ scoring in the sixth, following Altuve’s single with an RBI single of his own.
The Rockies attempted a comeback with Mickey Moniak’s two-run homer in the second tying the game. However, solid pitching from the Astros bullpen, capped off by Bennett Sousa earning his third save, kept the Rockies at bay.
The Rockies continue to struggle at home, losing all 14 series they’ve played at Coors Field this season. They will look to avoid a sweep in the series finale Thursday as Kyle Freeland (1-9, 5.56 ERA) takes the mound against Astros LHP Brandon Walter (1-1, 3.34 ERA).
The Astros, now winners of three straight and 16 of their last 21, are riding high.
