**Birmingham, UK -** Team India began their quest to level the series against England in the 2nd Test at Edgbaston after suffering a 5-wicket defeat in the first match. England won the toss and elected to bowl first.

India made three changes to their playing XI. Jasprit Bumrah was rested for workload management, while Nitish Reddy, Washington Sundar, and Akash Deep were included in the team.

Openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul started the innings for India. Rahul was dismissed early for 2 runs, bringing Karun Nair to the crease. Jaiswal reached his half-century off 59 balls, building a partnership with Nair. Nair was then caught in the slips off Carse’s bowling for 30 runs. Captain Shubman Gill then joined Jaiswal.

At the end of the first session, India stood at 98/2, with Jaiswal on 59 and Gill yet to score. During the second session, Jaiswal and Gill continued to build their partnership, taking India past 100 runs. Jaiswal was approaching another century.

Jaiswal fell to Stokes later in the day for 87 runs. Gill remained at the crease with India at 158.
