**HYDERABAD, July 2, 2025** – A 27-year-old cab driver from Balapur, identified as Mohd Amer, was apprehended in Kanchanbagh on Tuesday evening for possessing 7.5 kg of marijuana. The arrest was the result of a joint operation by the Commissioner’s Task Force (South West Zone) and Kanchanbagh police.
Police allege that Amer was purchasing marijuana in bulk from a local dealer in Hafeez Baba Nagar, identified as Mohd Ismail alias Shabba, at ₹2,000 per 100 grams, and then reselling it to users at a significant profit, between ₹3,500 and ₹4,000 per 100 grams. He was reportedly transporting 7.5 kg of the substance when intercepted by law enforcement. The seized marijuana and other related items have an estimated value of ₹1.86 lakh.
Amer has been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Kanchanbagh police station.
