**College in Malampuzha Forms Protection Group to Combat Illegal Activities**

**PALAKKAD, INDIA – July 1, 2025** – The College of Applied Science in Malampuzha, Palakkad district, has established a College Protection Group (CPG) with assistance from the State police. The initiative, launched on Tuesday, aims to create a safer environment for students by proactively preventing illegal activities, substance abuse, and legal issues.

The CPG is a part of the community policing efforts spearheaded by the Janamaitri Police Station, Malampuzha. The inaugural meeting was attended by Sub-inspector P.K. Abdul Kareem, Janamaitri beat officer M. Ramesh, senior civil police officer K.M. Binoy, college principal A.V. Shalimon, faculty members, parents, student representatives, and members of the local community.

Earlier in the day, District Panchayat president K. Binumol inaugurated the college’s academic year programme, welcoming the incoming class of undergraduate students. Higher Education Minister R. Bindu conducted the State level inauguration virtually.

Head of the Electronics department, Sherry P. Hamsa, led an orientation session for the new four-year degree students. Marutharode grama panchayat president C. Nirmala presided over the function.

“This initiative is a crucial step in ensuring the well-being of our students and fostering a conducive learning environment,” said Mr. Shalimon during the inauguration. Ms. Hamsa expressed her gratitude to all attendees in her vote of thanks. The event was well attended by various civic body heads, former principals and teachers, student leaders, parents, and college staff.
