Tue Jul 01 17:10:18 UTC 2025: **Headline: India Considers Bold Changes for Second Test Against England Amid Bumrah Workload Concerns**

Birmingham – Following a disappointing loss in the first Test against England, the Indian cricket team is reportedly considering significant changes to its lineup for the second Test, which begins Wednesday in Birmingham. Sources suggest up to three alterations could be made as the team looks to bounce back from the five-wicket defeat.

A major factor influencing the team’s decisions is the management of pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah’s workload. While initially reported to be rested for the match, captain Shubman Gill stated that Bumrah is available but a final decision on his inclusion will be made after assessing the pitch. Gill acknowledged the team has a plan in place knowing Bumrah will only play three Tests in the series.

Possible changes include Akash Deep replacing Bumrah if he is rested, spin-allrounder Washington Sundar potentially stepping in for Shardul Thakur, and Nitish Kumar Reddy possibly replacing Sai Sudarsan or Karun Nair. Reddy, a batting all-rounder who can contribute with medium pace, could bolster the bowling attack.

If these changes materialize, India would have six bowling options in Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep, Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, and Nitish Kumar Reddy.

The team’s assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate earlier hinted at the possibility of playing two spinners, but sources indicate Kuldeep Yadav may not be in the running for selection.

India is currently trailing 0-1 in the five-match series. Captain Gill emphasized the importance of finding the right combination to take 20 wickets and score runs on the Birmingham pitch.
