HYDERABAD – The Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Ltd (TGSPDCL) is ramping up efforts to enhance consumer service through a combination of artificial intelligence and direct community engagement, according to an announcement made today.

CMD of TGSPDCL, Md. Musharraf Faruqui, has instructed senior officers to visit “basthis” and colonies every Wednesday to interact with consumers and identify areas for improvement in service delivery.

In addition to this proactive outreach, the utility is implementing AI tools to improve service delivery and supervise power supply at the distribution transformer level. Currently, 6,885 out of 8,681 11kV feeders are being supervised using a feeder outage management system, with plans to bring all feeders under the system soon.

The AI-enabled system will provide real-time data on power demand, supply, and interruptions, alerting engineers at the distribution transformer level. This detailed analysis, already in practice at the sub-station and feeder levels, is expected to significantly improve service quality by allowing for more targeted interventions.
