Sun Jun 29 22:40:00 UTC 2025: **Milwaukee Police Officer Dies After Being Shot in the Line of Duty**
**Milwaukee, WI -** Milwaukee Police Officer Kendall Corder, 32, has died from injuries sustained in a shooting on the city’s northwest side, the Milwaukee Police Department announced Thursday. Officer Corder, a six-year veteran of the force, passed away on June 29th, nearly three days after he and his partner were ambushed near an alleyway.
On June 26th, Officers Corder and Christopher McCray, 29, were responding to a report of shots fired near North 25th Street and West Garfield Avenue when they were unexpectedly fired upon near an alley in the 2200 block of North 24th Place around 9:22 p.m. Neither officer was able to return fire. The Milwaukee Police Association reported that Corder suffered multiple gunshot wounds, including a chest wound that caused severe internal injuries. McCray sustained injuries to his foot and back and was released from the hospital on Wednesday, where he was greeted by fellow officers.
Police arrested 22-year-old Tremaine Jones on June 27th in connection to the shooting. Jones is currently in jail on $200,000 bail, according to the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office. While the Milwaukee Police Department has not officially named Jones in connection with the incident, two sources have confirmed the name to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
“That night, Officer Corder and his partner did what officers across our city do every day: he stepped up to protect the community despite the enormous risks. This will be his legacy, as it is for every Fallen Police Officer who stood between us and danger,” said the Milwaukee Police Association in a statement. The Association expressed its condolences and support for Corder’s family, friends, and colleagues.
The Milwaukee Police Department held a press conference near Froedtert Hospital at 6 p.m. Thursday. A processional from the hospital to the Medical Examiner’s office followed the briefing.
