**Bruins Lock Up Breakout Star Morgan Geekie with 6-Year Extension**

**BOSTON, MA -** The Boston Bruins have secured the services of forward Morgan Geekie for the long term, agreeing to a six-year, $33 million contract extension. TSN and The Athletic’s Chris Johnston first reported the deal, with The Fourth Period’s David Pagnotta providing the contract details, pegging the AAV at $5.5 million.

Geekie, 26, was a restricted free agent with arbitration rights this summer. The deal avoids a potentially contentious arbitration hearing and provides the Bruins with five years of club control beyond his remaining RFA eligibility.

The contract marks a significant investment in Geekie, who has blossomed into a key offensive contributor for the Bruins. After being non-tendered by the Seattle Kraken two years ago, Geekie signed a two-year deal with Boston. The move proved a steal for the Bruins. After a solid 2023-24 season where he notched 17 goals and 22 assists, Geekie exploded offensively this past season, tallying 33 goals and 24 assists while primarily playing on David Pastrnak’s wing. He finished second on the team in both goals and points, becoming one of the league’s most surprising bargains.

“Morgan has been a great fit for us,” said an unnamed Bruins executive. “His work ethic, offensive instincts, and chemistry with David [Pastrnak] made this an easy decision. We’re excited to have him in Boston for the foreseeable future.”

The contract leaves the Bruins with approximately $16.6 million in cap space, according to PuckPedia, with only RFA John Beecher left to address. With winger Jakub Lauko expected to be non-tendered, General Manager Don Sweeney will have ample room to continue reshaping the roster and address other areas in the hope of a return to the playoffs next season.
