**Hyderabad, India – June 29, 2025 -** A new initiative aiming to boost chess literacy across Telangana was launched yesterday at Ravindra Bharathi, spearheaded by the Chess Network in collaboration with the Palamuru NRI Forum. The event marked the formal debut of the Chess Network and served as a pre-launch for the ambitious “10K Chess Drive,” designed to reach children in rural, urban, and tribal areas of the state.

Deccan Heritage Academy Trust Chairman Veda Kumar Manikonda lauded the program, emphasizing the strategic thinking and life skills developed through chess. He commended the Chess Network and Palamuru NRI Forum for their commitment to nurturing young minds. NRIs Sudhir Kodati and Ravi Myreddy were recognized as the driving force behind the initiative.

The Chess Network, which has been active in the Warangal and Mahabubnagar districts for the past two years, aims to expand its reach significantly. School children in attendance received chessboards as a symbolic start to the widespread outreach campaign.

“We aim to achieve 100% chess literacy in rural Telangana,” stated Sanjay Kumar Gajjala, President of the Chess Network, highlighting the organization’s commitment. T.N. Sridhar, representing the Palamuru NRI Forum, shared inspiring stories of government school students from the Palamuru region now pursuing careers in science.

Former Deputy Collector K. Madan Mohan expressed his vision for Telangana to evolve into a “Scientific State,” with chess playing a critical role in fostering intellectual development. The initiative hopes to promote cognitive skills, discipline, and strategic thinking among the youth of Telangana.
