Sun Jun 29 06:15:39 UTC 2025: **Jake Paul Defeats Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., Calls Out Top Fighters, Alleges Canelo Alvarez “Ducked” Fight**

**Anaheim, CA** – Jake Paul, the YouTube personality turned boxer, continued his winning streak Saturday night, defeating former WBC Middleweight Champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. by unanimous decision in a 10-round cruiserweight bout at the Honda Center. The judges scored the fight 99-91, 97-93, and 98-92 in favor of Paul.

The victory marks Paul’s second win since the November fight against Mike Tyson. Following his win, Paul immediately issued a challenge to several current and former WBC champions, including Zurdo Ramirez, Badou Jack, Anthony Joshua, Gervonta Davis, and Tommy Fury. “I want tougher fighters, I want to be world champion,” Paul declared.

Chavez Jr., while acknowledging Paul as a “good fighter,” expressed doubt that he is ready for the competition he called out.

Paul also reignited his feud with Canelo Alvarez, claiming the Mexican superstar “ducked” a potential fight, alleging Alvarez prioritized a lucrative deal over facing him. Paul even shared what he claimed was a signed contract for a May 3rd fight in Las Vegas, accusing Alvarez of being “bought” by sports-washing interests.

With the victory over Chavez Jr., who last held a major title in 2012 and has struggled with personal issues, Paul improves his record to 12-1 with seven knockouts. WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman said before the fight that Paul could enter the World Boxing Council’s (WBC) rankings if he wins convincingly. The decision of whether or not Paul will be ranked by the WBC will be made by the WBC ratings committee.
