**Phillies Slugger Bryce Harper Eyes Return to Lineup Next Week**
**ATLANTA, GA -** Philadelphia Phillies fans received welcome news on Friday as two-time MVP Bryce Harper indicated a potential return to the lineup next week. Harper has been sidelined since June 7th with right wrist inflammation.
Speaking to reporters ahead of the Phillies’ series opener against the Atlanta Braves, Harper expressed optimism about his recovery. “I think next week is definitely in play,” Harper stated. “But I don’t want to solidify which day or anything like that. But I’m happy with where I’m at.”
The Phillies will return home on Monday for a three-game series against the San Diego Padres, followed by an off-day on Thursday and a weekend series against the Cincinnati Reds.
Harper recently participated in batting practice at Truist Park, following cage sessions earlier in the week in Houston. While he wasn’t fully satisfied with his swing, Harper stated he felt “fine” from a health perspective.
To further gauge his readiness, Harper will face live pitching on Saturday from Minor Leaguers Jack Dallas and Joel Kuhnel. Manager Rob Thomson confirmed the team will evaluate Harper’s progress after the session before making a decision on his return.
While acknowledging some lingering aches, Harper is encouraged by the reduction in inflammation. He credited the medical staff for their work. He stated he has no pain where it hurt the most when the shut him down few weeks ago.
Looking ahead, Harper emphasized the need to prevent future recurrences of the wrist issue, which he played through last season. He added that the medical staff has been doing a lot of work that has helped alleviate the pain in his wrist much quicker than expected.
Harper reiterated his commitment to maintaining his swing mechanics upon his return. “I don’t want to manipulate my swing at all,” he said. “If I have to manipulate my swing in any way, then I shouldn’t be out there playing, right?”
Harper is optimistic and ahead of schedule in his recovery. The Phillies and their fans eagerly await his return to the field.
