**Kothamangalam, India – June 28, 2025:** A 60-year-old man was killed in Kothamangalam, Kerala, on Friday afternoon after being struck by a Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) vehicle. The victim, identified as Thankappan of Thrikkariyoor, was crossing the road in Chelad near Kothamangalam when the incident occurred.

According to reports, Thankappan, who sold pots and kitchen utensils along the Kothamangalam-Kerampara road, was hit by the vehicle, which was allegedly speeding. The impact was so severe that the vehicle reportedly went on to ram an electric post and a two-wheeler after hitting the pedestrian.

While Thankappan was immediately transported to a nearby hospital, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.

The Kothamangalam police have registered a case against the driver and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident. Initial reports suggest the KSEB vehicle was being driven rashly and may have been on the wrong side of the road at the time of the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
