**Los Angeles, CA** – A lawyer for Kevin Costner has vehemently denied allegations made by a stuntwoman who claims she was subjected to an unscripted rape scene while working on “Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2.”
Devyn LaBella, a stunt double for actress Ella Hunt, filed an amended complaint on June 16th, alleging that Costner directed actor Roger Ivens to perform a violent, simulated rape on her during a scene in May 2023. According to the lawsuit, the scene involved Ivens “mounting Ms. LaBella while miming the unbuttoning of his pants, and using his body and arms to forcibly pin down Ms. LaBella, who was on her back underneath him” and “violently rustled Ms. LaBella’s skirt up as if trying to penetrate her against her will and he was directed to pin her legs open with his knee.”
LaBella claims she was not informed of the changes to the scene, nor given the opportunity to consent, and that an intimacy coordinator, allegedly required by her contract for intimate scenes, was absent during the shoot. The lawsuit also stated that Hunt refused to participate in the scene because of the ad hoc changes to the script.
Marty Singer, Costner’s lawyer, issued a statement strongly refuting LaBella’s account. Singer asserts that “Ms. LaBella was doing a rehearsal on an Insert Shot for a scripted scene. There was no intimacy or anything sexual in the shot. There was tugging on a dress while she was fully clothed and in a dress with long bloomers lying down next to a male actor.” Singer maintains that LaBella agreed to the “line up shot” in question.
The case is ongoing, and further details are expected as legal proceedings continue.
