**Delhi Gets New Bus Terminus and Electric Buses; CM Gupta Criticizes Previous Government**
**New Delhi, June 28, 2025** – Chief Minister Rekha Gupta today inaugurated the Delhi Transport Corporation’s (DTC) largest bus terminus in North-West Delhi, located in Narela Sector A-9. Alongside the inauguration, she also flagged off 105 new Delhi Electric Vehicle interconnector (DEVi) buses, marking a significant step towards the city’s goal of a fully electric public transport system by 2027.
Speaking at the event, CM Gupta emphasized the importance of the new transport hub in connecting North-West Delhi with key areas of the city, including the Old Delhi railway station and Mori Gate. The terminus, built over 4,000 sqm in just 90 days for ₹2.63 crore, features modern amenities like a pantry, medical facilities, clean toilets, RO water plants, and EV charging stations. It will serve as a hub for 75 buses, predominantly electric.
“This modern transport hub is a testament to our government’s dedication to strengthening public transport and building a cleaner, greener, and more connected Capital,” CM Gupta stated. She also highlighted that many of the new DEVi buses will be driven by women.
The nine-meter low-floor DEVi buses are air-conditioned, wheelchair-friendly, and equipped with panic buttons, CCTV cameras, and real-time tracking features, ensuring passenger safety and convenience.
However, the inauguration was also marked by strong criticism of the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government. CM Gupta accused them of corruption and pushing the DTC into significant financial losses. “Buses are Delhi’s lifeline, but under the previous government, routes were cut, buses reduced, and corruption was committed,” she asserted, citing a Comptroller and Auditor General report which indicated a surge in DTC liabilities from ₹28,263 crore in 2015-16 to ₹65,274 crore in 2021-22. She also alleged corruption in the AAP government’s ‘pink tickets’ scheme for women and criticized the installation of panic buttons as merely “for show.”
As of press time, the Opposition party has not responded to the allegations levelled by the Chief Minister. The inauguration of the Narela bus terminus and the introduction of new electric buses mark a significant milestone in Delhi’s efforts to modernize its public transport system and transition towards a sustainable future.
