**Tom Brittney Joins Titus Welliver and J.K. Simmons in MGM+’s ‘The Westies’**
**TORONTO, ON –** MGM+ has announced that Tom Brittney, best known for his role in “Grantchester,” will co-star alongside Titus Welliver and Oscar winner J.K. Simmons in the upcoming crime drama “The Westies.” Production is set to begin this July in Toronto.
The eight-episode series, created by “Narcos” co-creator Chris Brancato and Michael Panes, will delve into the brutal world of the real-life Westies, an Irish mob operating in Hell’s Kitchen during the early 1980s. Set against the backdrop of the Jacob Javits Convention Center’s construction, the story will explore the gang’s rise to power despite being significantly outnumbered by the Italian mafia’s Five Families.
Brittney will portray James “Jimmy” Roarke, a driven and loyal young member of the Westies being groomed for leadership by the gang’s patriarch, Eamon Sweeney (Simmons). However, an uneasy alliance with the Gambino crime family threatens to fracture Roarke’s loyalties and ambitions.
Welliver will play Glenn Keenan, a haunted NYPD officer with deep roots in the Westies’ neighborhood, torn between his duty to the law, his connection to the gang, and his own family struggles.
“The Westies” marks a significant role for Welliver following the conclusion of “Bosch: Legacy,” though fans can look forward to seeing him in a recurring role on the upcoming “Bosch” spinoff, “Ballard.”
