**Eluru, June 27, 2025** – Cocoa farmers in Karnataka are being urged to register with the Department of Horticulture by June 30th to take advantage of a government subsidy program. This initiative, announced following a May 23rd meeting between State Agriculture Minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu, the District Collector, and local cocoa farmers, aims to boost the income of cocoa producers.
Under the program, cocoa companies will purchase cocoa beans at ₹450 per kilogram. The state government will supplement this with a ₹50 per kilogram subsidy, bringing the total price received by farmers to ₹500 per kilogram.
District Horticulture Officer S. Rammohan confirmed that registration has been underway since June 26th. Farmers must obtain permits from their local Rythu Seva Kendras and sell their cocoa beans to participating companies such as Mondelez, D.P., and Chakolat before the June 30th deadline to qualify for the subsidy.
According to Rammohan, approximately 1,536 metric tonnes of cocoa beans have already been purchased in the district through this program. Farmers are strongly encouraged to act quickly to ensure they benefit from this government initiative.
