Thu Jun 26 07:44:21 UTC 2025: ## West Indies Pace Attack Rips Through Australia, But Starc Strikes Back

**BRIDGETOWN, Barbados** – In a stunning display of pace bowling reminiscent of their glory days, the West Indies dismantled Australia for a paltry 180 on day one of the first Test at Kensington Oval. Jayden Seales (5 wickets) and Shamar Joseph (3 wickets) unleashed a barrage of fiery deliveries, leaving the Australian batting lineup reeling. However, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and Josh Hazlewood responded in kind, picking up four wickets between them to leave the West Indies at 57 for 4 at stumps, trailing by 123 runs.

Australia’s batting woes began early, with debutant Sam Konstas falling lbw to Joseph. The young bowler continued his impressive spell, dismissing Cameron Green soon after, before Seales joined the fray, picking up Josh Inglis to leave the tourists at a catastrophic 22-3.

Usman Khawaja (47) and Travis Head (59) offered some resistance with an 89-run partnership, but Joseph returned to break the stand, dismissing Khawaja just shy of his half-century. The middle order crumbled, with Seales mopping up the tail, completing his five-wicket haul.

“This one was pretty special for me,” Seales said after play. “To play against [Australia] and get five on the first day was pretty special…Shamar was special today.”

The West Indies’ joy was short-lived, as Starc struck early with the wickets of Kraigg Brathwaite and John Campbell. Cummins then added Keacy Carty to the tally before Hazlewood removed Jomel Warrican for a duck, leaving the match delicately poised heading into day two.
