**Animated K-Pop Demon Hunters Briefly Smashes Netflix Record, Reclaims Top Spot**

**[City, State] – June 25, 2024** – Sony Pictures Animation’s “KPop Demon Hunters,” a Netflix original movie, made a splash this week, initially achieving the highest combined critic and audience score for any Netflix original production on Rotten Tomatoes, as reported on June 23rd. However, updated audience reviews brought the score down to 85% by June 25th, placing it fifth overall.

Despite the dip in the aggregate score, “KPop Demon Hunters” has proven its popularity. After briefly being dethroned, the film has reclaimed the #1 spot on Netflix’s Top 10 list, surpassing the enduring appeal of “The Intern” starring Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway.

Directed by Chris Appelhans and Maggie Kang, “KPop Demon Hunters” features the voices of Arden Cho (known for her roles in “Chicago Med” and “Teen Wolf”), May Hong, and Ji-young Yoo. The animated film’s unique blend of K-Pop, demon hunting, and animation seems to have resonated with audiences.

In a recent interview with Screenrant, director Maggie Kang hinted at the possibility of a sequel, stating, “Always. There are always side stories, and there are things we’ve thought of while making this one…I think there are a lot of pockets that we can explore.”

Netflix has not yet confirmed plans for a sequel, but the strong performance of “KPop Demon Hunters” suggests it could be a viable option.
