Wed Jun 25 18:30:00 UTC 2025: **Krispy Kreme and McDonald’s Doughnut Dream Turns Sour, Partnership Ends**
**[CITY, STATE] -** Krispy Kreme and McDonald’s have announced the end of their highly anticipated partnership, effectively halting plans to sell Krispy Kreme doughnuts at the fast-food giant’s locations nationwide. The decision comes just months after the initial announcement in March 2024 and follows a delayed rollout and subsequent reassessment of the project’s profitability.
“Ultimately, efforts to bring our costs in line with unit demand were unsuccessful, making the partnership unsustainable for us,” Krispy Kreme CEO Josh Charlesworth stated in a press release.
While initially launched in approximately 2,400 of McDonald’s 13,500 U.S. stores, the companies have decided against expanding the program to additional locations. Krispy Kreme cited difficulties in establishing a profitable business model as the primary reason for the termination.
The partnership’s demise marks a setback for both companies, as it promised to bring a popular sweet treat to a wider audience while providing Krispy Kreme with an expanded distribution network.
Despite the end of this collaboration, both companies remain committed to pursuing other avenues for growth and innovation.
