Thu Jun 26 03:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Knicks Eye Veteran Guard Dennis Schroder in Free Agency

**New York, NY** – Fresh off an Eastern Conference Finals appearance, the New York Knicks are reportedly exploring creative options in free agency to bolster their roster, with Detroit Pistons point guard Dennis Schroder emerging as a potential target. Despite limited cap space, the Knicks are looking for impactful additions that won’t break the bank.

According to Empire Sports Media’s Alexander Wilson, Schroder could provide exactly what the Knicks need: a reliable backup point guard to Jalen Brunson who can handle pressure and bring experience to the floor. While not a star, the 32-year-old Schroder offers a steady hand and offensive punch off the bench.

“New York doesn’t need a star to back up Brunson, but they do need someone who won’t implode under pressure,” Wilson wrote, highlighting Schroder’s potential fit.

Schroder averaged 13.1 points and 5.4 assists across 75 games last season with the Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors, and Pistons. While he started a significant portion of those games, his role in New York would be to provide valuable minutes and rest for Brunson.

However, the Knicks could face competition for Schroder’s services. His ability to play like a starter off the bench will likely attract interest from multiple teams, potentially driving up his price. Being outbid could limit the Knicks’ flexibility to pursue other free agents.

Free agency officially begins Monday at 6 p.m. ET, and Schroder is expected to weigh his options carefully.
