**MADURAI, June 25, 2025 (The Hindu) –** A passenger was killed and six others sustained injuries early Wednesday morning when a Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) bus overturned near Valandur, on its way from Madurai to Theni.

The deceased has been identified as C. Manimaran, 45, of Kulasekarapattinam.

According to police reports, the bus, driven by R. Raja, 56, departed from Arapalayam, Madurai, around 12:30 a.m. Raja reportedly lost control of the vehicle due to speeding as it approached Aiyapatti junction at approximately 1:00 a.m., causing the bus to overturn.

Manimaran, who suffered critical injuries, died at the scene. The six injured passengers were transported to the government hospital in Usilampatti, where they received outpatient treatment.

The Valandur police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
