**Honeymoon Murder: Lovers Confess, Police Reject Narco Test Demand**
**Shillong, Meghalaya** – In a shocking development in the “honeymoon murder” case, the Meghalaya police have confirmed that Sonam Raghuvanshi and her boyfriend, Raj Kushwaha, have admitted to being in a romantic relationship and implicated themselves in the murder of Sonam’s husband, Raja Raghuvanshi.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) handling the case has dismissed demands from the victim’s family for a narco-analysis test on Sonam, asserting they possess sufficient evidence to proceed. “They have already admitted to the crime,” stated Vivek Syiem, Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills. “We have reconstructed the crime scene and gathered evidence. A narco-analysis test is unnecessary at this stage and, in fact, largely inadmissible in court and even banned by the Supreme Court.”
Syiem emphasized the focus on building a strong, legally sound case rather than relying solely on confessions. The accused are expected to appear in court on Thursday.
While the police stopped short of pinpointing money as the sole motive, it emerged that the affair and the couple’s business aspirations were motive for eliminating Raja. The couple felt that they need to remove Raja to be together.
Authorities are now seeking to interrogate Lokendra Tomar, owner of an infrastructure company and a flat in Indore where Sonam Raghuvanshi stayed with Kushwaha and the alleged hitmen before her arrest. Police are investigating the disappearance of a bag Sonam left at the flat, suspected to contain a country-made pistol, her phone, Raja’s jewellery, and Rs 5 lakh in cash. Tomar and property dealer Silome James are accused of tampering with evidence by removing the bag. The police continue to search for the missing jewellery that Sonam Raghuvanshi brought from Meghalaya.
