Tue Jun 24 15:10:49 UTC 2025: ## Bengaluru Police Step Up Foot Patrols to Enhance Community Policing

**Bengaluru, June 24, 2025 (The Hindu)** – In a move to bolster community policing and enhance vigilance at the ground level, Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh has ordered all station-level officers to conduct foot patrols during weekends and festive seasons in sensitive areas.

The directive, announced Tuesday, aims to deter crime, improve public interaction, and increase police visibility in high-traffic areas. According to Commissioner Singh, jurisdictional police sub-inspectors, along with regular patrol staff, will conduct these patrols, particularly in the evenings and in crowded areas.

“This will not only improve public-police interaction but also build deterrence to anti-social elements and mischief-mongers,” Singh stated. He further emphasized the proven link between visible police presence and reduced crime rates.

Senior police officials have also been instructed to map sensitive areas within their jurisdictions to strategically deploy foot patrols. The initiative is intended to supplement the existing Hoysala patrolling system, which provides rapid response to emergencies. The goal is to build trust with the public and ensure a quicker response to emerging situations, according to a senior official.
