**Tom Cruise, Debbie Allen, Dolly Parton, and Wynn Thomas to Receive Honorary Oscars**

**LOS ANGELES (AP) -** The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced Tuesday that Tom Cruise, Debbie Allen, Dolly Parton, and Wynn Thomas will be honored at the annual Governors Awards on November 16th. Cruise will receive an honorary Oscar statuette, recognizing his commitment to filmmaking and the theatrical experience, particularly his work with the stunts community. Allen will also receive an honorary statuette acknowledging her integral role in the Oscars show, having choreographed seven ceremonies. Thomas is recognized as a leading production designer whose films have often gone on to best picture nominations and even one win. Parton will receive the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award for her decades-long charitable work in literacy and education through organizations like the Dollywood Foundation and the “Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library”.

“This year’s Governors Awards will celebrate four legendary individuals whose extraordinary careers and commitment to our filmmaking community continue to leave a lasting impact,” said Academy President Janet Yang.

Cruise, 62, has been nominated for an Oscar four times. Allen, 75, has never been nominated. Thomas is most known for his long-term collaboration with filmmaker Spike Lee. Parton has been nominated twice for best original song.

The Governors Awards ceremony will be held at the Ray Dolby Ballroom in Los Angeles.
