**Yadgir, Karnataka – June 23, 2025** – Residents of Shahapur city in Yadgir district are eagerly anticipating the inauguration of a new drinking water project slated for the end of August. The ₹70 crore project, which draws water from the Bhima River via the Sannati bridge-cum-barrage, aims to provide clean and reliable drinking water to the city’s estimated 1.51 lakh population until 2050.

Minister for Small Scale Industries and Yadgir district in-charge, Sharanabasappa Darshanapur, inspected the ongoing work on June 21st, expressing confidence in the project’s imminent completion. “The Chief Minister will inaugurate the project since this would be a significant development work for the people of Shahapur city as promised,” he stated.

The project, managed by the Drinking Water Supply and Sewage Board, involves an 18-kilometer pipeline transporting water from the Bhima River to a filter bed in Shahapur. In addition to Shahapur city, the villages of Ingalagi and Madnal will also benefit from the new water source.

“The water will be supplied to each house through taps after storing in two tanks, with a capacity of 15 lakh litres each, established in different zones under the AMRIT 2.0 project,” explained Minister Darshanapur.

Authorities are preparing for a formal examination of the project in the coming weeks to ensure adherence to standards and optimal performance. The successful completion of this project promises a significant improvement in the quality of life for the residents of Shahapur and surrounding villages.

Minister Darshanapur also outlined several other upcoming development projects for the taluk, including a Praja Soudha, drainage improvements, residential schools, and hostels, amounting to a total investment of several crore rupees.
