**Telangana Minister Questions BRS Leader’s Commitment to Backward Classes**
*Hyderabad, India – June 23, 2025* – Telangana’s Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar has publicly challenged the sincerity of BRS MLC K. Kavitha’s advocacy for Backward Classes (BC) rights, citing the perceived neglect of BC communities during the BRS’s decade in power.
Speaking at a press conference held at Gandhi Bhavan, Minister Prabhakar questioned Kavitha’s silence on BC issues during her party’s tenure. “Did Ms. Kavitha ever raise her voice for BCs when BRS was in power? If not, what moral right does she now have?” he asked.
Prabhakar also extended an invitation to Rajya Sabha MP and prominent BC leader R. Krishnaiah, urging him to collaborate directly with the government on BC welfare rather than aligning with figures from the previous administration. “Let’s meet the Prime Minister together. You fix the appointment, we will be there,” he stated.
The Minister emphasized the importance of cross-party cooperation on BC welfare, asserting that the Congress party is committed to addressing the needs of the 56% of the population who belong to BC communities. He lauded Rahul Gandhi’s ongoing efforts to bring national attention to BC issues and praised Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s commitment to rectifying the past neglect and pushing for a BC bill focused on socio-political empowerment. “The Congress is working with sincerity and not giving political colour to this issue,” he said.
The minister’s statements highlight the ongoing political debate surrounding BC rights and welfare in Telangana, as the new Congress government seeks to differentiate itself from its predecessor.
