**Tiruvarur, June 23, 2025 (The Hindu)** – Commuters relying on the Karaikal-Tiruchi-Karaikal DEMU train services will face disruptions this week due to ongoing engineering work between Tiruvarur and Kilvelore on the Karaikal-Nagapattinam-Tiruvarur section. The Southern Railway announced the short-termination of services 76819/76820, effective today, June 23rd, until June 29th, excluding June 24th.
DEMU service number 76819 will now originate from Tiruvarur at its scheduled time of 4:15 p.m., instead of commencing its journey from Karaikal. Similarly, DEMU service 76820 will terminate at Tiruvarur, departing from Tiruchi at 8:35 a.m.
The Karaikal-Thanjavur Passenger service (56817), departing Karaikal at 1 p.m., will also be affected, with a 30-minute delay expected at a convenient point along the route until June 29th. The Southern Railway issued an official release detailing the changes, advising passengers to plan their journeys accordingly.
