**Kevin Durant Traded to Houston Rockets in Blockbuster Deal**
**HOUSTON, TX** – In a stunning move that will reshape the landscape of the Western Conference, the Houston Rockets have acquired 15-time All-Star forward Kevin Durant from the Phoenix Suns, sources confirmed Sunday.
The Rockets are sending guard Jalen Green, forward Dillon Brooks, the No. 10 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, and five second-round picks to Phoenix in exchange for the veteran superstar.
The trade is expected to be finalized when the NBA’s new league year begins on July 6th, at which point Durant will be eligible to sign a two-year, $122 million extension with the Rockets.
Durant, who will turn 37 in September, is entering the final year of his current contract, set to earn $54.7 million in 2025-26. He is coming off a season with the Suns where he averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 1.2 blocks in 62 games, shooting an impressive 43.0% from beyond the arc.
This marks Durant’s fifth NBA team, having previously starred for the Seattle SuperSonics/Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, Brooklyn Nets, and Phoenix Suns. He joins a Rockets squad that finished second in the Western Conference last season, forming a potentially dominant core alongside All-Star Alperen Sengun, promising rookie Amen Thompson, and veteran point guard Fred VanVleet.
“This is a monumental day for the Houston Rockets organization,” said Rockets General Manager Rafael Stone in a brief statement. “Adding a player of Kevin Durant’s caliber instantly elevates our team’s championship aspirations.”
Meanwhile, the Suns are acquiring two young talents in Green and Brooks. Green, 23, averaged 21.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 3.4 assists while starting all 82 games for the Rockets this season. He will team up with Devin Booker in Phoenix’s backcourt. Brooks, 29, averaged 14.0 points and 3.7 rebounds in 75 games.
The addition of Durant significantly boosts the Rockets’ chances of contending for an NBA title, while the Suns are betting on the potential of Green and the defensive prowess of Brooks to retool their roster. This trade is sure to send shockwaves throughout the league as teams prepare for the upcoming season.
