Mon Jun 23 12:40:00 UTC 2025: **U.S. Launches ‘Operation Midnight Hammer’ Against Iranian Nuclear Facilities**

**Washington D.C.** – In a stunning and meticulously planned operation, the United States military conducted a series of strikes against Iranian nuclear facilities early Sunday morning, according to a Pentagon briefing. Dubbed “Operation Midnight Hammer,” the mission involved a complex mix of stealth bombers, decoys, and mid-air refuelings, culminating in a coordinated attack on key nuclear sites.

The operation began just after midnight on Sunday, with President Trump and his top advisors monitoring the situation from the White House Situation Room. Seven B-2 stealth bombers departed Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri, embarking on an 18-hour journey to Iran.

According to the Pentagon, a diversionary tactic was used to mislead observers, with bombers initially deployed towards Guam in the Pacific, drawing attention away from the main strike force heading eastward over the Atlantic.

Upon reaching the Middle East, the bombers were joined by support aircraft to sweep in front of the bombers to look for enemy fighters and surface-to-air missile threats, according to Gen Caine. The B-2s then proceeded to strike Iranian nuclear sites at Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan. The Pentagon reported that 14 GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrators (MOPs), were dropped on Fordo and Natanz. Simultaniously, US officials say that more than two dozen Tomahawk land attack cruise missiles were launched from a US submarine stationed in the Arabian Sea towards the nuclear site near Isfahan.

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth claimed that the operation had delivered “powerful and clear destruction” of Iran’s nuclear capabilities. However, the full extent of the damage is still being assessed, and Iran has downplayed the impact of the strikes.

The U.S. military emphasized the complexity and sophistication of the operation, claiming that no other country in the world could have carried it out. The mission involved approximately 75 precision-guided weapons and over 125 aircraft.

International reaction to the strikes has been swift. Demonstrations have erupted in France, Pakistan, Greece, and the Philippines condemning the military action. Amid the rising tensions, Iran’s Press TV reported that parliament had approved a plan to close the Strait of Hormuz. Meanwhile, Europe braces for Trump’s arrival at the Nato summit with difficult questions over Iran and defence.

The BBC has not independently verified the Pentagon’s account of events, due to the inability to access flight tracking data for military planes. The long-term impact of “Operation Midnight Hammer” on Iran’s nuclear program and regional stability remains to be seen.
