**New Delhi, India – June 23, 2025** – The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is celebrating a significant victory in recent by-elections, securing two out of five contested assembly seats across four states. The results, announced today, have sent ripples through the political arena, with AAP leaders proclaiming a shift in the political landscape.

The by-elections, held on June 19, 2025, took place in Ludhiana West (Punjab), Visavadar and Kadi (Gujarat), Kaliaganj (West Bengal), and Nilambur (Kerala). AAP candidates emerged victorious in both Ludhiana West and Visavadar, marking a notable incursion into what was previously considered BJP territory.

In Ludhiana West, AAP’s Sanjeev Arora, a Rajya Sabha MP and industrialist, triumphed over competitors from the Congress, BJP, and Shiromani Akali Dal. Meanwhile, in Gujarat’s Visavadar, Gopal Italia of AAP defeated BJP’s Kirit Patel by a margin of 17,581 votes.

The BJP managed to retain the Kadi (SC) seat in Gujarat, with Rajendra Chhabra defeating Congress’s Ramesh Chhabra by a substantial margin of 39,452 votes. In West Bengal, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) secured a victory in Kaliaganj, with Alifa Ahmed defeating BJP’s Ashish Ghosh by 48,673 votes. The Congress party held onto its Nilambur seat in Kerala, as Aryadan Shoukath defeated CPI(M)’s M Swaraj by 11,077 votes.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann expressed his delight at the results, congratulating Gopal Italia and stating that the AAP is the only party capable of challenging the BJP nationwide.

AAP leaders have hailed the victories as a testament to their “politics of work.” Sanjay Singh described the wins as a “marvelous victory” in the BJP’s stronghold, while other leaders emphasized the significance of the results in Gujarat.
