**Puducherry, India – June 21, 2025:** Puducherry marked the 11th International Yoga Day with a mass yoga training session held near the Gandhi Statue on Beach Road on Saturday. Organized collaboratively by the Departments of Tourism, Education, Ayush, and the Puducherry Pollution Control Committee, the event drew a large crowd of participants, including prominent government officials.
Lieutenant Governor K. Kailashnathan, Speaker R Selvam, Home Minister A. Namassivayam, Chief Secretary Sharat Chauhan, and Director General of Police Shalini Singh were among the senior officials actively participating in the training session.
Chief Minister N. Rangasamy and Tourism Minister K. Lakshminarayanan attended the inaugural function. In his address, Chief Minister Rangasamy emphasized the significance of yoga for maintaining overall well-being. “Yoga is a practice given to us by our saints for a healthy living. Yoga teaches us the importance of maintaining a healthy balance between the body and mind. We have to adopt yoga as part of daily routine to live a healthy life,” he stated.
In addition to the main event, various other yoga training sessions were organized by government and private institutions across Puducherry. Auroville hosted a session that attracted approximately 400 participants, including students and international guests, commencing with meditation accompanied by music.
The International Yoga Day celebrations in Puducherry reflect the growing recognition of yoga’s benefits for physical and mental health and its importance in promoting a balanced lifestyle.
