**NEW YORK, NY** – While the Minnesota Lynx and New York Liberty remain atop ESPN’s WNBA Power Rankings, their recent losses have significantly altered the landscape of the Commissioner’s Cup competition. Both teams are now in a fierce battle to secure their spots in the championship game on July 1st.
The Atlanta Dream and Indiana Fever are challenging the Liberty’s dominance in the East, while the Seattle Storm are vying with the Lynx for Western Conference supremacy. Tuesday’s concluding Cup games will determine which teams advance to the final.
For the Eastern Conference, if the Dream defeat the Liberty in New York, Atlanta will represent the East regardless of the Fever’s game against the Sun. However, if the Dream lose and the Fever win, Indiana will take the spot as a result of their Cup game victory over the Liberty. The Liberty, the reigning Cup champions, need to win against the Dream and have the Fever lose to the Sun to advance.
In the West, the Lynx can secure their spot in the final with either a win against the Las Vegas Aces or if Seattle loses to the Los Angeles Sparks. The Storm need to win against Los Angeles and have Minnesota lose to advance.
The Lynx are coming off a 101-78 victory over the Sparks, led by Napheesa Collier’s stellar performance. The Liberty are hoping for the return of Jonquel Jones as they prepare to face the Dream.
Meanwhile, the Atlanta Dream are riding high after a franchise-record 18 three-pointers. Caitlin Clark’s return fueled the Fever to a victory over the Liberty.
The Commissioner’s Cup promises exciting action as teams battle for a chance to compete for the title.
