**Virudhunagar, India – June 17, 2025** – The Tamil Nadu government is providing financial assistance to children who have lost parents in fireworks factory accidents. Revenue Minister K.K.S.S.R. Ramachandran distributed orders for monthly maintenance assistance to 41 wards of deceased fireworks workers at a ceremony in Virudhunagar on Tuesday.

This initiative follows Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s announcement in November 2024, promising support for the education and well-being of children affected by these tragic accidents. The government has allocated ₹5 crore to establish a corpus fund managed by the Virudhunagar District Collector to identify and support eligible beneficiaries.

Under the scheme, children who have lost one parent will receive ₹2,000 per month, while those who have lost both parents will receive ₹4,000 per month until they reach 18 years of age. In addition to maintenance assistance, the children will also be eligible for educational support for higher education in government, aided, and self-financed colleges under the government quota.

A total of ₹5.62 lakh was distributed to the 41 children whose parents died in accidents between November 2024 and May 2025. Virudhunagar Collector V.P. Jeyaseelan, Tenkasi MP Rani Shrikumar, and several MLAs were present at the event, along with officials from the Directorate of Industrial Safety and Health. This initiative aims to provide much-needed support and ensure a better future for the children affected by these industrial accidents.
