Wed Jun 18 02:20:00 UTC 2025: **LSU Tames Bruins in Weather-Delayed College World Series Matchup**

**OMAHA, Neb. -** The No. 15 UCLA Bruins suffered their first loss of the postseason on Tuesday, falling 9-5 to the No. 6 LSU Tigers in a game at the Men’s College World Series in Omaha that stretched over two days due to inclement weather.

The game, which began Monday night and was suspended after three innings with LSU leading 5-3, resumed Tuesday morning. UCLA (48-17) initially jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, highlighted by a Roman Martin double, but LSU (50-15) responded quickly with four runs in the bottom of the first, powered by a three-run homer from first baseman Jared Jones, who finished with four RBIs.

The Bruins attempted a comeback in the eighth, scoring two runs and loading the bases, but LSU reliever Chase Shores shut down the rally, securing the win for the Tigers. Casan Evans earned the win for LSU with 4 1/3 innings of solid relief pitching.

Landon Stump took the loss for UCLA, while Chris Grothues and Cal Randall provided strong relief performances.

UCLA now faces No. 3 Arkansas later today in an elimination game. The winner will advance to the bracket final, while the loser will be eliminated from the tournament. This marks the first-ever postseason matchup between UCLA and Arkansas.
