**Mysuru Students Exceed Quota in National Merit Scholarship Selections**
**MYSURU, June 17, 2025** – The results for the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) selection exam for the 2024-25 academic year have been released, revealing that 292 students from the Mysuru district have been chosen to receive the prestigious award. The achievement is especially notable as the district was initially allotted only 274 seats under the Union government scheme.
The NMMS provides a yearly scholarship of ₹12,000 to selected students in classes 9 to 12, directly deposited into their bank accounts. This financial assistance aims to support meritorious students from economically weaker backgrounds.
Data shows a strong representation from government schools, with 221 students selected from government institutions compared to 71 from aided institutions. Rural areas also saw significant success, with 78 students selected from Mysuru rural, followed by Mysuru South and T Narasipura.
“This is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students and teachers, particularly in government schools,” said an official from the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Mysuru.
Students selected this year, as well as continuing recipients, are encouraged to apply for the scholarship through the National Scholarship Portal. Information regarding bank account details and application procedures can be obtained from NMMS nodal officers at the Block Education Offices or from their respective school heads. The scholarship will be issued to the students once the selection is completed.
