Wed Jun 18 01:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Kings’ Kempe and Fiala Selected for 2026 Winter Olympics
**LOS ANGELES -** Two Los Angeles Kings players have been named to preliminary rosters for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy. Forward Adrian Kempe will represent Team Sweden, while forward Kevin Fiala will skate for Team Switzerland. The announcement was made today as all 12 participating nations revealed their first six roster selections.
While not entirely unexpected, the news confirms Kempe and Fiala as key players for their respective national teams. Both are considered elite talents within their countries.
For Fiala, this will be his first taste of best-on-best international competition. Despite numerous appearances at the IIHF World Championships, where he secured three silver medals and was named MVP in 2024, the Olympics represent a new level of challenge. Fiala expressed his excitement back in February, calling the opportunity to represent Switzerland at the Olympics a “dream come true.”
Kempe, on the other hand, recently participated in the 4 Nations Faceoff with Team Sweden. Despite Sweden’s early exit from the tournament, Kempe performed well, adding to his already impressive international resume.
The 2026 Winter Olympics hockey tournament will run from February 11th to February 22nd, with the NHL pausing its season to allow player participation. Fiala and Switzerland will compete in Group A, facing off against Canada, Czechia, and France. Kempe and Sweden will battle in Group B against Finland, Slovakia, and host nation Italy. All teams will advance to a single-elimination tournament for a chance at a medal.
