**”Steven Universe” Expands with New Spin-Off, “Lars of the Stars,” Renewals and More Announced at Annecy**
**ANNECY, FRANCE** – June 12, 2024 – Cartoon Network Studios thrilled fans at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival on Wednesday with a slate of exciting announcements, including a brand-new series set in the beloved “Steven Universe” universe.
“Steven Universe: Lars of the Stars,” co-created by Rebecca Sugar and Ian Jones-Quartey, is in development for Prime Video. The show will follow the adventures of Lars Barriga, now an “eternal teenager and space outlaw,” as he leads a pirate crew, smuggles contraband, evades authorities, and uncovers dark secrets of the fallen Gem Empire.
The original “Steven Universe” garnered critical acclaim for its storytelling, diversity, and emotional depth during its 2013-2020 run.
Additional announcements included:
* **”Teen Titans Go!”** has been renewed for a tenth season on Cartoon Network, continuing its run as the longest-running animated series in DC history.
* **”Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake”**: A sneak peek at Season 2 was given by producer Adam Muto. Creator Rebecca Sugar also performed a song she wrote for Simon Petrikov on the show.
* **”Adventure Time: Side Quests”**: An opening sequence was shown by WBA’s SVP of development Audrey Diehl.
* **”Regular Show”**: Creator J.G. Quintel teased his new “Regular Show” series, but coyly kept most details. He was less withholding when it came to another of his projects, the upcoming YA animated series “Super Mutant Magic Academy,” based on the comic of the same name by Jillian Tamaki.
* **”Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends”**: Craig McCracken shared an early look at his upcoming preschool adaptation of “Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends.”
* **”The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball”**: CNS executive producer Ben Bocquelet handled the presentation of the new name to the Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe series, which is really more like a seventh season of the original show in tone.
