**U.P. ATM Theft Gang Busted in Bengaluru After Villupuram Heist**
**Bengaluru, June 15, 2025:** A specialized police team has apprehended a gang of four individuals from Uttar Pradesh allegedly responsible for stealing ₹1.65 lakh from two ATMs in Villupuram, Tamil Nadu. The arrests occurred at the Bengaluru railway station on Saturday, June 14, 2025, after a swift investigation by Villupuram police.
The suspects, identified as Sonu (23), Sanjay Kumar (24), Siva (27), and Lav Kush (25), are accused of using a sophisticated method to disable the ATMs located in Maharajapuram and Puducherry Road, Villupuram on June 12th. According to police reports, the gang inserted an aluminum board into the cash dispenser, causing the money to become trapped inside. After locking up the ATM, they retrieved the stuck cash.
Superintendent of Police P. Saravanan formed a special team after receiving complaints of the theft. The team analyzed CCTV footage and call records, tracing the suspects from Chennai to Villupuram via taxi. After the crime, the gang returned to Chennai and boarded a train to Bengaluru.
Police officers followed the suspects and successfully arrested them at the Bengaluru railway station. Authorities seized ₹10,200 in cash, four mobile phones, a memory card, and four ATM cards from their possession. Investigations revealed that the gang has also targeted ATMs in Bengaluru, utilizing the same technique and fleeing via taxis to train stations. The investigation is ongoing.
