**UFC 263: A Night of Records, Both Wanted and Unwanted**
Glendale, AZ – June 12, 2024 – Three years ago today, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) staged UFC 263 at the Gila River Arena in Glendale, Arizona, an event that would etch itself into the history books for a mix of spectacular victories and a record-breaking number of decisions.
Headlined by Israel Adesanya’s successful middleweight title defense against Marvin Vettori and Brandon Moreno’s dominant flyweight title victory over Deiveson Figueiredo, the card featured a stacked lineup with notable names such as Leon Edwards, Nate Diaz, Belal Muhammad, and Jamahal Hill.
However, the event also broke an unwanted record. UFC 263 saw a staggering 11 fights end in a decision, surpassing the previous record of five, which was later tied by UFC Fight Night: Vieira vs. Tate in November 2021. The lengthy decisions contributed to another record, with the event clocking in at a total fight time of 3 hours, 19 minutes, and 32 seconds, making it the longest in UFC history.
Despite the prevalence of decisions, the night wasn’t without its explosive moments. Terrance McKinney shattered the record for the fastest finish in UFC lightweight history, knocking out Matt Frevola in a lightning-fast seven seconds. And the clash between Edwards and Diaz delivered a thrilling five-round war, ending in the crowd on its feet.
Paul Craig set the tone for the main card with a brutal first-round TKO of Jamahal Hill, dislocating Hill’s elbow with an armbar, an injury the referee initially missed, forcing Craig to secure the stoppage with punches.
