Sat Jun 14 14:28:14 UTC 2025: ## Gaza Aid Distribution Sites Turn Deadly as Dozens Killed
**Gaza Strip** – At least 58 Palestinians were killed in the Gaza Strip on Saturday, many near aid distribution sites, according to local health authorities. The deaths occurred amidst a dire humanitarian crisis in the region, exacerbated by ongoing conflict and restrictions on aid.
Fifteen of the deaths occurred near a distribution site operated by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), a US and Israel-backed organization, near the Netzarim Corridor. Medics from al-Awda and Al-Aqsa hospitals reported that those killed were attempting to access desperately needed food. The remaining fatalities resulted from separate attacks across the besieged enclave.
According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, at least 274 people have been killed and over 2,000 wounded near aid distribution sites since the GHF began operations last month. Witnesses report that despite the risks, thousands of Palestinians, facing famine conditions after 15 weeks of blockade and military campaign, are forced to seek aid at these locations.
Al Jazeera’s Tareq Abu Azzoum, reporting from Deir el-Balah, stated that Palestinians are increasingly viewing the GHF distribution hubs as “execution sites.”
The GHF, led by Johnnie Moore, a former advisor to Donald Trump, began distributing aid in Gaza on May 27th. This new distribution model, supported by the US and Israel, has been criticized by the UN as neither impartial nor neutral. The US and Israel claim it is designed to replace the UN-run aid network, alleging that Hamas has diverted UN aid, a claim the UN denies.
As the situation unfolds, the Israeli military issued orders on Saturday for residents of Khan Younis, Abasan, and Bani Suheila to evacuate their homes, citing operations against “terror organizations.” The UN reports that over 80% of Gaza is now within the Israeli-militarized zone. It is estimated that nearly 665,000 people have been displaced since the ceasefire broke in February.
Health authorities in Gaza state that more than 55,290 Palestinians have been killed in the conflict, the majority of them civilians. The war has also flattened large portions of the Gaza Strip, leading to widespread displacement and malnutrition.
Neither the Israeli military nor the GHF have issued immediate comments regarding Saturday’s deaths. Despite ongoing mediation efforts, a lasting ceasefire remains elusive.
