**Boeing Under Scrutiny After Air India Crash; Whistleblowers Raise Concerns**
**Ahmedabad, India** – The recent crash of an Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner in Ahmedabad, which killed 274 people including those on board and on the ground, has reignited concerns about Boeing’s manufacturing practices and safety standards. The London-bound flight AI-171 crashed shortly after takeoff, prompting investigations by Indian authorities. The plane’s black box has been recovered to determine the cause of the crash.
The tragedy has brought renewed attention to whistleblowers who have previously raised concerns about Boeing’s production facilities. Ed Pierson, a former Boeing manager who testified before Congress in 2019 regarding safety issues with the 737 Max, told NDTV about chaotic and dangerous manufacturing conditions at Boeing.
Sam Salehpour, another Boeing whistleblower, has accused the company of prioritizing profit over safety. He testified before Congress about structural issues in the Dreamliner’s fuselage, alleging that improper assembly could lead to structural failure. Pierson noted that Salehpour’s concerns could potentially be linked to the Air India crash.
Boeing has consistently denied the whistleblowers’ claims, stating that the Dreamliner has undergone extensive safety testing. The FAA previously investigated Salehpour’s claims but cleared in-operation 787 planes, however, American officials still maintain there is no immediate safety data that requires halting of Boeing 787 flights in the US.
