**Bengaluru, June 13, 2025** – The Higher Education Department of Karnataka has announced a draft seat matrix for engineering and architecture courses for the upcoming 2025-26 academic year, revealing a slight decrease in available seats. A total of 135,969 seats are on offer across 217 engineering colleges in the state, including 64,047 seats under the government quota.
This figure represents a reduction of 5,313 seats compared to the 141,009 seats available in 245 colleges during the 2024-25 academic year.
Despite the overall decrease, Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) remains the most popular field, with 33,813 seats available. Following CSE are Electronics and Communication engineering with 18,492 seats, and Information Science and Engineering with 8,538 seats.
