**Madurai, India – June 13, 2025:** The Madurai district police have launched an initiative to bolster security in areas bordering Madurai city, deploying additional patrols to combat crime. The move follows a detailed analysis of crime patterns over the past five years in police stations bordering the city.

Superintendent of Police B.K. Arvind stated that the increased presence aims to deter criminal activity, particularly in newly developed residential areas deemed vulnerable to theft and burglary. Four patrol vehicles are now operating 24/7 in areas under the jurisdiction of Tirumangalam, Perungudi, Alanganallur, Samayanallur, Oomachichikulam, Silaiman, and Othakadai police stations. The vehicles are equipped with sirens and flashlights to maximize visibility and serve as a deterrent.

“We have studied the pattern of crime incidents reported in the last five years…and put these additional patrol vehicles on those select stretches of roads,” said Superintendent Arvind.
