**Delhi L-G Approves Action Against Engineer Over Classroom Construction Irregularities**

**NEW DELHI, June 13, 2025** – Delhi’s Lieutenant-Governor V.K. Saxena has authorized disciplinary proceedings against a senior Public Works Department (PWD) engineer, S.R. Meena, for alleged irregularities in the construction of classrooms funded by the Central government’s Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan.

The action stems from a public interest litigation filed in 2019 that raised concerns about the project, which was allocated ₹38.37 crore for the construction of 226 classrooms. The litigation highlighted significant problems with construction practices and fund management.

An investigation by a committee appointed by the then Chief Secretary revealed that the PWD had diverted funds intended for Trinagar School to Rani Bagh School and constructed a multipurpose hall without proper authorization.

The Vigilance Department proposed disciplinary action against Meena, which was endorsed by both the Principal Secretary (Vigilance) and the Chief Secretary.

The Anti-Corruption Branch of the Delhi government has also summoned AAP leaders and former Delhi Ministers Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain for questioning in connection with the case. The investigation is ongoing.
