**Elderly Couple’s Murder: Accused Granted to Police Custody in Erode, India**

**ERODE, INDIA – June 13, 2025:** An Erode court in Kodumudi granted a three-day police custody on Friday for four men accused of the brutal murder of an elderly couple in Sivagiri. P. Aachiappan (48), N. Madeswaran (52), R. Ramesh (54), and Gyanasekaran were arrested in connection with the deaths of Ramasamy (72) and Bakkiyam (63), whose bodies were discovered in their home on May 1, 2025, three days after the incident.

District Munsif-cum-Judicial Magistrate G. Pandiarajan approved a reduced custody period from the seven days requested by the police. The accused are scheduled to reappear in court on June 16. Following the hearing, they were transported to an undisclosed location for further investigation.

Police investigations revealed that the men allegedly robbed 10.75 sovereigns of gold jewelry from the victims before selling it to Gyanasekaran, a goldsmith, who is now among the accused.

Prior to this hearing, three of the accused were detained under the Goondas Act, and the Salem Central Prison served them detention orders on Thursday. A police source reported the men had previously confessed to a triple murder in Tiruppur district on November 28, 2024, and have records of multiple other criminal offenses including murder. Police intend to investigate their potential involvement in these earlier crimes during the custody period.
