**Ahmedabad, India** – In a stunning turn of events, authorities have confirmed finding a survivor in the aftermath of the devastating plane crash that occurred in Ahmedabad earlier today. Initially reported as having no survivors, the discovery offers a glimmer of hope amidst the widespread tragedy.
The survivor, identified as 40-year-old Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, a British-Indian citizen, was found after officials initially stated there were no survivors. He was seen in a cellphone video circulating online, walking with a limp and covered in blood and soot. Ramesh, who was seated in 11A, is currently receiving treatment in a local hospital.
“The police found one survivor in seat 11A,” stated Ahmedabad Police Commissioner GS Malik, according to ANI news agency. He also added that the death toll is currently unknown and may rise as the flight crashed in a residential area.
The London-bound Air India flight AI-171, carrying 242 people, including crew members, crashed shortly after takeoff. Reports indicate the plane, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, reached a height of approximately 825 feet before plummeting to the ground. A mayday call was made by the pilot just before the crash, followed by a massive explosion visible for miles.
The cause of the crash is currently under investigation. Experts speculate that engine trouble, mechanical failure, or a bird strike may have been contributing factors. Authorities are hopeful that recovering the black box will provide crucial information.
Ramesh was reportedly traveling with his brother, and is trying to find him.
