*Anakapalli, June 12, 2025* – Tragedy struck the Jawaharlal Nehru Pharma City (JNPC) in Parawada, Anakapalli district, Andhra Pradesh, late Wednesday night as a gas leak at Sai Sreyas Pharmaceutical Private Limited claimed the lives of two employees and left a third hospitalized.
The deceased have been identified as P. Chandrasekhar, 32, from Hyderabad, and S. Kumar, 25, from Munagapaka. The injured worker, B. Baisal from Odisha, is currently receiving medical treatment. All three were employed in the Safety Department of the company.
According to police reports, the incident occurred during the night shift as the three workers were carrying out wastewater treatment procedures at the Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP). They reportedly collapsed after inhaling a suspected poisonous gas released during the process.
“The three were found lying unconscious by other workers who went there sometime later. They were rushed to hospital immediately,” said Inspector R. Mallikarjuna Rao of the Parawada police station. Postmortem examinations are being conducted at King George Hospital (KGH).
The Parawada police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
