**Bengaluru, June 12, 2025** – The Karnataka government has assured the High Court of Karnataka that all official communications, both digital and physical, related to the recent stampede at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium will be preserved. The assurance was given by the Advocate General on Thursday during a hearing regarding a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) initiated by the court following the tragic incident on June 4th, which resulted in the deaths of 11 people during post-RCB victory celebrations.

A division bench comprising acting Chief Justice V. Kameswar Rao and Justice C.M. Joshi presided over the hearing. The Advocate General, Shashi Kiran Shetty, stated that the Chief Secretary would oversee the preservation of all correspondences between government authorities and other parties.

The bench also acknowledged the State government’s sealed report responding to nine questions posed by the court regarding the RCB victory celebrations and the circumstances leading to the stampede.

Several individuals and advocates have applied to intervene in the PIL, raising concerns about the alleged failure to adhere to crowd management guidelines issued by the National Disaster Management Authority for mass gatherings in Karnataka. The court stated it will address these applications at a later date.

The hearing has been adjourned until June 17th, allowing the bench time to review the government’s responses.
